Introduction to Tokidoki - Simone Legno, the genius behind the wonderful world of Tokidoki has taken his art to a whole new level. Tokidoki is a work of art that shows a happy world where people and things are delightful and charming, sexy yet sophisticated. It is not surprising how much it is loved easily in the fashion world because of the positive aura it gives out. The creator, Simone Legno was born and raised at Rome, however, his love for the Japanese culture is what drove him to make Tokidoki.

Tokidoki means "sometimes" in the Japanese language. Why the term Tokidoki? SImone replied "I chose 'sometimes' because everyone waits for moments that change one's destiny. By simple chance or meeting a new person, Tokidoki is the hope, the hidden energy everyone has inside that gives strength to face a new day and dream something positive, that something magical will happen to us." He also said that life can change in some meaningful whiles and choices, just for a decision or by chance, just meeting a person.

Tokidoki started as a personal web site for Simone where he can display his artworks founded by his love for the Japanese. With the launch of the Tokidoki web site, Simone has received many support for his art and interpretation of Japan. But it really all started with one tokidoki e-mail in the year of 2003. This is an e-mail from the co-founder of Hard Candy Cosmetics and her husband, who are two serial entrepreneurs. In the e-mail, they expressed their love for Simone's work and offered to fly him immediately to Los Angeles and talk about an offer that will bring Tokidoki to the doors of everyone in the world. Tokidoki now moved from Rome to Los Angeles and they started building the Tokidoki brand. They believe that the playful world of Tokidoki should be shared to everyone.

Tokidoki designs are based on how Simone sees the Japanese culture and also incorporates the things he loves about it. He has created cute signature characters like Cactus Friends, Milk Carton and Tulip. He has also added some flair to his art since he grew up in the punk scene of Rome so he likes to mix soft with edginess. One would often see a Japanese girl with bright hair and tattooed sleeves with his cuddling signature characters.

The company has been successful since the year it was launched. By 2004, Tokidoki set out for an apparel, art and lifestyle brand. They expanded into iSkins, jewelry, watches, vinyl toys, skateboards, knitwear, sportswear and accessories.

By 2006, Tokidoki has made a collaboration with LeSportSac which they called Tokidoki for LeSportSac. This was launched worldwide. And it is no surprise how popular these bags became, hence, the contract with LeSportSac was extended for another five seasons.

Tokidoki has since made other collaborations with companies which are called Tokidoki for Ride, Tokidoki for Onitsuka Tiger, Tokidoki for Fornarina, Tokidoki for Hello Kitty, Tokidoki for Smashbox, Tokidoki for iSkins and many many more to come.
